......AND BOUGHT A REPRO CLEANING ROD FOR MY K98 - OR SO I THOUGHT!!
Its T O O L O N G !
Anyone know what the thread is so I can cut it down to fit and put a new tread on it.
Bayonets for the K98 were from €60 / $88 upwards and looked a bit repro too! Decided not to buy one.
One guy also had some No: 4 Enfields in very average condition with the wood re-varnished and VERY rough They were all in non-mil calibers and were €500 / $735.
God but there was some rubbish there.
AND THE ANSWER WOULD APPEAR TO BE..........

Nothing to do with "treads" Duncan, but i have been shooting my K98 today and had a cracking day out at 6c Wathgill,

well i did once it stopped pissing down and i sorted out the problems with the electronic targeting system.

Glad you enjoyed it Joe.
I am still waiting for a hight foresight (which, as I speak is about to wing it's way over the pond! ) and then some serious zeroing in Bordeaux.

Joe was really annoyed when he thought the electronic targests were not going to work I was expecting him to sling it into the dug out at any moment. Wish Id had a camera.

Dunc ; I think you will find for the 98k rods - long or short , and the gew98 the thread is actually 4 x .7mm.

Anyway, problem solved by my gallant mate John who, after taking the piece home with a new die I bought for £8.40 / 12€ said it was too big. He cut the rod down, drilled a hole in one piece and turned a pin on the other end. He then silver soldered the 2 together. I cold blued the 'new' rod and it looks perfect. I KNOW it isn't dead right but it will do until a real one is discovered
