At the last Vintage Rifle Match we passed the hat to buy a youth rifle for our club's junior rifle program. One of our members is a dealer and through him we ordered a Savage "Cub" 22 with a receiver peep sight, neat little gun. Well legally someone has to be the official buyer so after work I went by his shop and was dully background checked and paperworked. What is a bit odd is what the police said after I was ok'd a rather mechcanical "Proceed". The dealer said that is what they always say, one word "Proceed". Is that part of the regulations or are Dallecks now handling the background checks?

Proceed is good. Now if there were real Daleks on the other end of the line ..... and they didn't think you should have it.....weren't they always saying "Ex Term Me Nate" in that strange monotone voice just before they started blasting away with their ray guns?
Sorry Paul, couldn't resist the urge.

see , and id of thought that illeagle - they ask on the nics if you are the 'actual' buyer and as im sure someone [lawyer] has cleared this practice , were i to do this for a freind im quite sure id have broken a federal law ,
but then perhaps you have further paerwork to do to transfer this , and i do not want to sugest any negativity , i just had a freind that asked me to do this and i told him it was illeagle

Maryland has a different term that they use. They will not say that someone is "approved." Their big red stamp say "NOT DISAPPROVED."
