Scored a nice MKVI on the 23rd in an auction:

It is no here yet, but a buddy inspected it for me, bore is nice and clean, tight lockup.

Dies are already here, now I need some reloading data to let it bark

Thats a good looking MK VI Chris. I take it that the rear of the cylinder has not been messed with, and you will be using .455 rounds. I have used 4.2grains of Alliant Unique with a 265grn round nosed hollow based bullet in the Webleys and found it decent enough. I was using the shorter MK 2 case. These were a mild enough load, I have not tried increasing the charge yet. The Webleys seem to perform better with the hollow base bullets. Hornady is making new mark 2 brass. I have also used brass made from .45 Long Colt cases cut down to the length of the Mark 1 case and with the rim thinned slightly. I am no expert on the Webleys, there are others on the forum who have a lot of experience with them, Dromia and Joseyclosey to name but two. Congratulations Chris, another nice revolver for the collection!!!!!!

Congratulations Chris they are fine and accurate revolvers.

For reloading you need to check chamber, throat and bore dimensions to determine whether you will need hollow based bullets or not, if your revolver is original with the chamber being smaller than groove diameter then HB bullets will be needed. If its been enlarged then flat base bullets can be used.

My pistol likes bullets sized to .453" over 4 gns of Red Dot, a similar charge of Viht N320 works as good.

This is a stiff load with no pressure signs in my pistol, but I would work up to it in .1 of a grain increments from a starting load of 3.2gns. This load served me well in 50yrd competition.

I prefer using the larger MK 1 cases.

I am used to measure every gun I own, did that with my S&W M1917 "Brazil" already, as I did on all my rifles.

Yesterday I ordered the last 50 Hornady cases from a dealer, so both the revolver and cases will be here early next year.

Th revolvers is unmessd with, not converted o .45ACP or something like that, commercial britsh proofes on the left side of the barrel.

Tomorrow I will turn the tooling for cutting down .45LC on my lathe

This is the variation with the adjustable rear sight, good sightpicture, as I was told by my friend, who checked it for me.

I handled on with original rearsight at the last gunshow, not my cup of tea.

What variation is more common???

Seems like I found my weak spot for revolvers, was spolied by a S&W 686 some years back, but the Nagat M95 and the M1917 Brazil are a lot of fun

I think, there is a company making the right HB bullets, must dig through my notes now.

Chris, Buffalo Arms in the U.S sell the 265grain round nose hollow base bullet, $23.25 for a box of 50. They also sell the RCBS mould and MK 2 cases. Over the years I have seen many Webley MK VI's and they have all had the original rear sight.

265grn Webley bullets are sold here too, If I remember correctly, 250pieces for 59 Euro.

Next year I will set up some casting equipment, too many guns to feed

From time to time Hornady brass is available(got 50 on the way) but I will convert .45LC in my lathe, have turned half the tools already today

In another Forum I was told, this was a modification done by Parker Hale, but no definite proofe of that.

Maybe I can find some stamps on my MkVI, when it arrives.

I would be interested in seeing some pictures of the tools you are making up to cut the 45 colt cases. A guy in England made some for me by cutting them on his lathe, but he had some sort of swager that squeezed the rim of the case thus thinning it, and at the same time increasing the diameter of the rim. I take it you are just going to cut some from the rim of the cases.

Ian, I have no pics of my tools, but you are right, I will turn the rim thinner on my lathe and also the shortening of den case will be done in the lathe.

Swadgin would also do, but the tools are more difficult to make. May be, if I have more time at hand, I will try to make them also.
