I like to have a holster for every handgun in the collection.
What do MKVI holsters look like and what kind of money has one to spent on one?

MkVI holsters are usually in leather, designed to go on the Sam Browne. They often turn up on Ebay, and they were normally dated if they were military issue (private purchase weren't). about £30 or less normally for a decent one, unless you're going for the belt etc as well.
The exception to this is that some were still in circulation in WW2 (albeit small numbers I think). As such, you will occasionally find a Pattern 37 holster that is a little wider in the top section. I'd photograph you one, but that part of my collection is in storage. I'd advise against chasing this model, as unless you have both in your hands, it can be quite difficult to tell. The leather ones are nice, and with the full Sam Browne, always look good on display

Chris,
There is another pattern of leather holster for the Webley Mk VI.
The closed 'Sam Browne" holster Nick mentions was the pattern for Officers, however there was an open topped leather pattern for Other Ranks, this was without a flap (the pistol being retained by a single leather strap), and open at the bottom.
There are two different methods of fastening to the belt, one has two brass clips to attach it to the '08 webbing belt, the other (later) pattern has two leather straps and buckles, which would allow it to be worn on the '03 and '14 pattern leather belts aswell as the '08 webbing.
Those holsters made for the '14 pattern leather equipment have a 'brace attachment' fastened to the back of the holster, however, this is often cut off on examples to be found on sale.
The above (military) holsters are mostly in brown leather (possibly blackened for 'Rifle' regiments), however, the basic (late) pattern, with no brace attachment, can be found in black leather as Police issue.
As for pricing, the complete '14 pattern is the most expensive, followed by the '08 and cut back '14 . Strangely enough the Police version, which seems to be the least often seen in the least desirable and therefore the cheapest (I don't have a price to hand, but versions do turn up on eBad).
Any help?

hris,
Thats an odd holster.
From the front, it looks like a standard 'Sam Browne' holster, however, the standard SB has a simple broad leather loop at the rear, with a small square brass loop for the cross belt.
The example you have makes me think that it is either somewhat older than standard SB kit (which would make it possibly 1870s/80s) or was privately made to allow the holster to be worn ON the SB belt or, by addition of a long sling, the be worn BELOW and seperate from the belt.
In short, I don't know what it is, it just looks earlier to me.
Effectively, the holster you have is a Sam Browne holster, but not necessarily for a Webley Mk VI, however, as pistol and holster were not, generally, a matched pair, I'd suggest that it is a suitable piece (Of course, if you ever decide to buy a Mk I revolver, it might well do for that too).
Any help?

I was wondering, is that holster the one that went on a leather sling over the shoulder? I think it was once a cavalry pattern, but I can't remember.
Either way, it looks a pretty good fit Chris, so its up to you what you choose to do. I should be getting my Sam Browne back this week, so I will post a photo of it once I do, just as another example of the full rig.
As a PS to Tom, could you post photos of the patterns, if you have them. I'm curious just to see how they line up against each other in terms of variations.

Hm, now what to do?
I got me the pictured holster, but would gladly like to see some pics of real Webley MkVI Holsters
There is a MKI for auction right now, but I feel, it will get too expensive.

I'm afraid I can't find any photos of the back of the 1908 (but the clips are the same as thise on the rest of '08 equipment) or of a '14 pattern with brace attachment. - Sorry.
