The real funny part is the it would have probably worked better, historically speaking, if the reporter were asking British General Howe instead of Washington and substituted the word "Americans" for "British".......but whoever let history get in the way of an idea that seems funny.

Bob Newhart had a skit he did about this, as told by one of his soldiers. ..."Nutty George" had us up all night marching in the wind and the rain and snow and the guess what? He decides to go for a boat ride. The wateer really rough and its all we can do to keep the boat from foundering and guess WHO stands up and walks to the front of the boat? Right. Nutty George. And if that wasn't bad enough, he had some guy painting the whole thing."
