The sights are all held on by a tapered pin that you drive out from the right side to the left. Some T38 and 44's will have two smaller pins but they to come out from right to left. Find a solid peice of metal with a 1/4" or so hole in it. Lay the left side of the sigh with the pin over the hole. Take a flat bace punch of less that 1/8" diameter and knock it out. May take a hard lick. The put the sight in a padded vise and twist the rifle while pulling and the sight will come off. Reverse to put it back on. If you want to make it look like it has never been removed - make a new pin out of a soft stick welding rod. Cut off about 2" of the correct diameter spin it in a lathe or drill and file a slight taper. Drive it into the hole from the left side. Cut the excess off leaving 1/16" or so excess and then brad both sides. file and sand down smooth and put some cold blue on it. riceone.

Sorry but can't resist this riceone.

Was kind of long and windy, but I just saw the post. Takes longer to tell than it does to do. One thing I might add, if you can't see the outline of the pin on the right side take some fine sandpaper and rubb till you do.
