Japanese sold out of service marks

I thought I would post a couple of pics of my Type 38 rifle showing one of the ways the chrisanthemum was cancelled when the rifle was no longer in the service of the Emperor. This rifle was made in the mid to late 1930s and was part of a batch that was sold/traded to Thailand about 1940 as part of a deal to secure supplies of rubber and timber for Japan. The rifle turned up in Germany in 1971 as it has German proof marks from that year and came from Germany to the UK to end up residing in Yorkshire at present. The rifle has seen some service as the muzzle has a bright ring on it from where the rifle was carried alot with a fixed bayonet, a few stock dings and a bore that was shot but not always cleaned properly. Whether this was in Japanese service or Thai service, we will never know.
