picked up a used reproduction revolver made by FLLI PIETTA of Italy.

It is what I believe to be a reproduction of a Colt 1851 "Southern" Navy in 44 caliber.

It has a broken mainspring which I will order this week but I don't know where to get replacement nipples at a reasonable price. Best I could find is $6.50 each. Seems a bit high. Can't imagine paying close to $40 for nipples.

Any help?

That does look high

Guess it would also depend on the size you need. 12-28 thread can be bought from Track of the Wolf for less than half of that.

Nipple, 12-28 thread, for Colt revolvers, #11 cap, stainless steel $2.75

Dixie has a couple in metric sizes made for Colt reproductions for $3.50 each.

Hey, Biganimal, I still have that .44 Colt reproduction you traded me years ago for that .22. Looks like this new one for you is a lot like that one you traded me.

I paid more than that for one! It was platinum lined though and is used on my long range muzzle loading match rifle.

Howdy,

The Pietta uses a 6X.75 nipple.

This is the best place that I have found to cross reference nipples and find out what your gun uses:

Good Luck,

I even made it a case. Haven't shot it in a long while though. Too many others to chose from. Have to take it along with me to the range some time soon.

Better looking than mine.

Got an email from a guy I know in Montana today. Look at this Walker and the price it brought at auction. I would suspect the guy who bought it will be keeping it in a safe deposit box......if there is a bank he can trust not to go out of business.

thats a bargain?
