I just picked up a T99 Arisaka today. Been meaning to


get one. All I need to handload is dies. A question about brass..... Which is less work, converting 8mm or 30-06


brass?





Mum's gone and the serial number is 49614. No dust cover, butt plate, aircraft alighners, other than that the Guns clean. Minor scratches and dings. Large O med O small O


next to serial number. Throat is clean, barrel looks


really good, no pits. crown isn't sharp though.


Pitting on trigger guard and rear tang behind the


guard. Just need some ammo.

Using 8X57 brass is a lot easier. I have made it from 06 but it took me the better part of 8 hours to convert 40 cases (this included anealing the cases before trimming). HTH

I would go with the 8-mm all ya need is a fl sizing die and your set to

convert the cases. my 99 shoots well with the converted brass. 06

can be a real pain .

I have used Norma 7.7 cases and 8mm Mauser. The 8mm Mauser is cheaper and easy. Just full length size and load them up. The case is slightly short but not a problem.
