Have managed to bring it back to as issued spec except for the butt. Currently waiting on a walnut MkIII butt from WA, as well as a sporter style butt.

woftam, what type of magazine & triggerguard is that?

I have a SMLE like yours with of those features but the mag setup.

the triggerguard is a standard early triggerguard. I'm guessing you're talking about the swivel mount at the front ? This was later changed to just a wire loop - for the action cover to be tied to.

The magazine is a standard SMLE magazine of which there were 4 case types.

No 1 had the wire loop on the front, a more curved profile, a C shaped platform spring, MLE type rear catch and the riveted ear on the front.

No 2 dispensed with the wire loop and had a squarer profile.

No 3 had the small spring riveted to the rear catch. Mine is a No 3.

No 4 dispensed with the ear on the front. The purpose of the ear was to allow removal of the magazine floorplate when pivoted forward.

The 3 magzines below are (from left to right) MLE (same profile as the No1) a No 4 and No 3.

I have not seen nor heard of these types of magazines in a SMLE.

Of the three No1 Mk3 SMLE rifles that I own, my mags are simple shells with small ears bent inward to capture the follower & spring.
