John - The radiator shape looks very AEC to me but I am no expert. I have a friend who might be able to ID it. Will ask him this week and get back to you mate.

It appears to me that the soldier is an American officer.

It could be a Japanese truck, they drive on the wrong side too.

My pal said the same - probably Jap. The wheels are the give away. Nothing like that in the British Army. Looks like it is/was a large gun tractor or some such with seating for a crew.

The badge on (what's left of) the radiator makes me think 'FIAT', but the right hand drive is a little odd.

The verdict appears to be Fiat SPA TM40 artillery tractor.So Tom was on the right track!
