Thanks to a fellow member over at Bill's board I am now the proud owner of a Paker Hale 5C. It is in excellent shape and the price was great also.

I am really glad that I waited to find the real thing rather than try to use the one I posted the question on earlier.

Nice. I've got a Rawson (an aussie maker) and a PH5C. I find the Parker Hale slightly better.

Now all I need is a PH5D for the No 8.

The guy I bought this one from also had a South African copy for the same price but I wanted the Parker Hale.

I just remembered it was a DOW sight.

Finally made it to the range to try out the PH-5C today. Couldn't be happier with it. Now all I need is an L39 type forestock and handguard.

My 174gn Hornady over 38.9gn of IMR-4895 loads made nice tight groups at 100 yards.

Actually I think the reason I shot so well was that it was 45 degrees and raining so both the #4 and the sight thought that they were at Bisley. :D

I was planning to have a go at 200 yards but I just couldn't convince myself or Bob to make the 400 yard hike in the pouring rain.

Once I do get sighted at 200 can someone tell me how many minutes I need to come up to be on at 600?

Oh please tell me you're talking about the PH5C, not the 5D.

Now I'll have to ask the chap I sold it to as I I didnt shoot it with that fitted!

I may have the pics but it was a Woolwich receiver and not a standard fitting!

My No8 is one of the NZ contract (1951?) and the receiver will accept the PH5C and the PH5D in either configuration. Just can't find a PH5D at all, let alone for a decent price.

True enough, unfortunately. :(

On the other hand I suppose I could now look for a No8 with the PH5D attached to buy
