Making a chat reminder list

After getting a lot of returned emails and occasional requests not to send any futher emails, I decided to make a list of handles that want to be reminded of the Sunday chats rather than send out a "mass email" to everybody who has ever registered to post at this site..

Some people just know and show up most every week and no reminder is needed, but some others would check in if they were online at the time and thought about it.

I'll make a group email list of whoever wants to be on it and send out an email reminder a few minutes before each chat. I'll also make a post in the announcement forum while the chat is in progress and remove it when I leave the chat room. (There will be some weeks I won't do this because I'm fishing or something else. But this should happen more times than not.)

So if you want to be on the reminder list say so here and I'll add you to the list. Or send me a pm or email. If it's an email be sure to tell me in the content what your site handle is because that is how the group email list is constructed.

I'M IN AS I AM SURE YOU KNOW!

If you could design something that indicated when anyone was in the chatroom that displayed on the Index Page it would be useful. Get the header to flash red or something

Best I can think to do at the moment is post a notice that the chat is in progress in the Announcements forum. Registered users that happen along will be able to notice it. When the chat is over it can be removed.

Leave me on the list, one day I might get motivated to get up early.

Or maybe we could have a chat that fits Australian time

We could start a second chat time. What would work in Australia and some other parts of the world at the same time?

DOES THER NEED TO BE A SPECIFIC TIME WHEN THE ROOM IS OPEN OR CAN WE USE IT AT OUR CONVIENIENCE? SAY A GROUP SETS THEIR OWN TIME.

Thanks for the thought but I think its a case of you could only get us lined up with the US or Europe not both.

For example its now 1030hrs here, 0030hrs in Paris, 1830hrs in Washington and 1530hrs in San Francisco.

Given the small numbers of members in this part of the world then I don't think a second time is sustainable. Given I work shift work I can't say my attendance to a set time would be anything other than sporadic.

Leave it as is and I'll just have to drag myself out of bed early sometime.

Another chat time can be set for any group by just posting it in the forums or if you can get any group together by whatever means at any time just do it. The chat room functions all the time. Or, some more or less "official" second time could be set on the menu page like the Sunday chat.

Another thing that could happen is "usergroups" could be set up and a group email could be sent to specific groups to set a time. Either Dromia or myself could set it up and send out reminders for any group.
