Finally the local range has been reopened. Unfortunately it happened on the 9th when I was in Sydney but our club practice day was yesterday.

Planned to go out in the morning with the .22 Hornet & .310 Cadet, go to unavoidable appointment at 12:30 and back in the afternoon with the .303 Martini Enfield & the 1915 Enfield.

However when I packed up at about 12:00 so did every other bastard including the Range Officer. Dick (the R.O.) usually loiters as long as any cares to stay but he had business elsewhere unfortunately.

Anyway there is another practice day Sunday (tomorrow) so I may be able to get out with the .303's.

New set-up is vastly different to previously and if I get out Sunday I'll take the camera.

As to the rifles -

.310 Cadet, what an absolute joy to shoot :D . Light, crisp action, great trigger, a bit disconcerting at first with the cases ejecting straight back at you. This is the first (and best) target of the day. 50m, benched, commercial ammo. Only planned to fire a couple of 5 shot groups, went through the entire fifty. Target is 2.5 inch diameter.

.22 Hornet. Bit harder to come to terms with than the Cadet. Not used to the old scopes and therefore didn't bring a screwdriver to adjust focus but got it sorted in the end. Irritatingly when the magazine is in it fouls the bolt. The slickest bolt action in the world then becomes an absolute nightmare to cycle - have to look at that to see if it can be remedied. After a bit of practice I was getting targets like this at 50m, benched
