Bought another one

I knew this would happen as soon as I bought the Cadet.

Went to the paint shop after something to bleach wood. Chose that particular paint shop as one of the blokes from the rifle club works there. As soon as I walked in the door he says -

"Want to buy my Cadet ?"

He has a very nice BSA Cadet marked to NSW CMF that I have long admired. After I called him every name I could think of I explained that I had just bought one. Went home and vented to the wife, who said -

"You can have it if you want it."

Resisted for about three days, then weakened. Had a look at it Sunday. For the same price I paid for the first one I could get the Cadet, 1 & 1/2 boxes of the same ammo I got with the first Cadet + the other half box of empty brass, a box of Kynoch ammo, about 30 other empty cases, a couple of hundred projectiles, his load data, a Simplex press, loading dies for the Cadet and some other loading dies that are on the press. Oh, and one of the jacketed .310 rounds developed for WW2 VDF use.

Couldn't resist. But cash is short and Christmas coming up, so we have a handshake agreement for me to chase up a permit and front with the cash in February next year - just in time for my birthday.

Graeme,

Remind me some day to tell you about the time I went out to Botany to inspect Cadets for Mick Smith, before he bought his first big lot; in 1958/9.

He offered me 200 at a quid each and I knocked him back.

Sure Joe, but you spring for postage and handling :D

I thought the .310 was an obsolete calibre in the UK ? Doesn't that mean you can't shoot them ? Or have I got that wrong ?

I think it means the same as in France. If its obsolete you can own one without any paperwork and I am SURE you could organize some brass and a lead mold   I know I could

Graeme it is an obsolete calibre in the UK, you could post it to me perfectly legally. BUT, if i wanted to shoot it it would have to go on my FAC.

Simple really!

That's not necessary here G so don't embarrass Joe by making him put it on his FAC - just send it to me and no more will be said

I never cease to be amazed by the altruism shown by members of this forum; especially those that live in France, must be something in the wine
