Milsurp After Hours

I just bought my M95 at Big5 for 69.00. Can anyone tell me more about my new rifle? All the original markings match including the stock. Some of the markings I could not get a photo of are: An "R" stamped on the reciever tang, An "H" on top of the buttplate. You can see the rest of the markings in the photos. I have read that the Budapest rifles are harder to find. Thanks :thumb:

What store is the big5????Went to a local gun show in Pughkeepsie,n.y. Sunday and found a few from !00-175 $$$ and the bores looked clean but pitted pretty bad by the corrosive ammo used and poor cleaning. If one fell into my lap with a nice bore I'd like to make a shooter out of it using the Graf cases and Lee bullet mold.Most of the shows and the ridiculous prices on the GunBroker.com and showsare cutting back on sales during these hard times.afish4570

Not much listed on the M44. Mine has a hammer & scycle with leaves around it. 1945 with r in cyrillic next to it.afish4570

afish4570, your M44 is a Russian Mosin, perhaps?

In the link oldironsights offered it mentions that some of the M95/34's had rifle rear sights. Mine is one of them. Mine also has three different serial numbers on the butt, suggesting at least three rebuilds and the barrel looks like it may have been one cut down from a rifle and counter bored as well.

When you shoot it, be sure to hold the stock tight to your shoulder. It kicks a might.
