I used one in the USCG (1967-1971) to perform my duties. Also my dad just passed away last March 15th 2008. He was born in 1911. 96 years plus old. So you can see why the model 1911 means something to me.

Sure wish they were not so expensive?

Who else used the model 1911 in the military and also think what a great firearm?

The 1911 has always been my favourite self-defence pistol (if I can't have a heavy revolver) and I carried one (illegally) in the Australian Army in Korea.

Ever read the great short novel by James Jones entitled..The Pistol? It's about an "illegal" 1911 as carried in WWII by in infantry soldier.
