I found the paper "Some Observations On The Failure Of U.S. Model 1903 Rifle Receivers " a interesting read also.

Grew up in central NY and knew of a lot of companies that made bayonets but didn't know it at the time. Camillus, Onieda, Union fork & Hoe were all from this area, as well as Utica.
