WWII Battleship police force badges

Took these on the Battleship Alabama. Each battleship had its own Master At Arms and military police force as well as a brig to put the "bad apples" in.

Other crew members wore buttons for a different reason

Seems all enlisted men below the rank of chief petty officer wore buttons to show their assigned watch section and division.

Niner,

Those appear to be pin-backed badges - do you know if they were worn on the regular day-to-day uniform or only on, say, foul weather coats etc. where regular 'trade' badges couldn't be read?

I never was in the Navy so I have no idea other than what was printed on the display. Maybe somebody will come along that knows more about it. I would think some of these kinds of pins would be collected by somebody somewhere.
