Serial number "A 2111"---so it's possible she actually came out in '41.
Wearing the '41 dated leather sling and what would seem to be original wood---the forestock is numbered with the axis of the bore, as it should be on an early rifle.
Cocking piece is a later addition and so is the backsight---sure would like to find an "SM" or "N67" backsight that would work with this rifle's wear pattern...hint, hint.
Bright bore, matching numbers---one of my favorite No4s.

Sorry---detail photos are too dark---I lost my best lamp to old age and can't get a replacement bulb.

A very nice early No.4, Krinko. I like, particularly, the patina and character of the furniture. All four parts of which have obviously been together for a long time.

Do you have a photo of the longitudinal serial# on the forearm?

I have a very worn "SM" marked backsight in the parts bin. Emphasis on "very." A good bit of backlash in the elevation screw. Want to see a picture? May be more worn than you envision.
