Milsurp After Hours

Hi All,

I'm doing an NRA Range Conducting Officer's course on Saturday. If I qualify I will be able to run civilian shoots on military ranges. Scary or what?

At present all our club shoots seem to be run by the same very committed person, which is unfair.

If anyone who has already passed one of these courses has any advice that they'd like to pass on I'd really appreciate the help!

Well I did mine over 10 years ago and could probably do with a refresher but I suppose the best advice I can offer is stay alert as they will be looking to test you and remember that you are in charge so don't be flustered and get a grip from the start.

Safety is the paramount concern so don't be afraid to stop shooting at any point if you feel the need or are uncertain about whats going on, stop and check it out.

Always better safe than sorry.

And remember if there are some tossers shooting you can always f**k up their scores legitimately as an RCO, whats the point of having power if you can't abuse it.

Might I suggest that you be very watchful of anyone wearing a Balmoral Bunnet. In fact, I would recommend that you carry a very heavy swagger stick so that you can get such a person's attention by whacking them very stoutly on said bunnet.

One should have more respect for a Balmoral Bunnet and require the wearer of said bunnet to remove it before striking him with the recommended "very heavy swagger stick".

You colonial types have no sense of respect, pride, decorum or manners, absolutely no breeding whatsoever.

Brian I reckon the biggest hurdle about the course is once you have passed is actually RO'ing your first shoot, once you have done that it's downhill all the way.

I would recommend somthing like doing the rapids or snaps at the HBSA 1910 meeting and giving me a rest!
