Milsurp After Hours

I have been bemoaning the lack of Clay busting facilities in the SW of France for a while now but things have taken a turn for the better

As I think I have already reported in other posts, the main interest in this area is hunting (actually it is killing anything that they see!) and so the local hunts only have 'BALL TRAP' (10 bird Down the line) in the Summer or at village fetes.

I have discovered that there is a club near Bordeaux, Club Ball Trap Ambesien, Ambes, that shoots DTL, Skeet & Sporting every Saturday afternoon from January to the 1st Saturday in September. Membership including the FFBT Licence is 67€ / $95 / £58. The President has invited my pal Alain and I to go down and have a look around so I am hoping to be able to shoot much more often.

I have just come into possession of an almost new ( maybe 20 rounds fired) Baikal IJ27 O/U shotgun with SS trigger and 5 chokes so am ready to dive in!

Clay busting eh ? Sounds dirty.
Never tried it much myself, but now I actually own a shotgun, I may have a crack at it.

Went for a look around the club at Ambes yesterday and too some pics.

They shoot every Saturday from the 1st Saturday in January to the 1st Saturday in September. Cost is 68€ / £57.50 / $97 / AUD 116 for membership then 5€ for 25 birds. They have Sporting, Skeet, DTL and Olympic Trench ( I think ) It's a great setting with excellent facilities and layouts. I will be joining on 2nd January 2010

Permitted loads are 28 grm No:7½ or 9, nothing else. I reckon about 65% of the guns I saw yesterday were Browning O/U's

My, they do persist with those ridiculous over and under abominations.

When will they learn that they are just not going to catch on.
