Milsurp After Hours

In top of a Mt. at 0200 hundred hours, I was sitting alone and watching the AO. I had my surveying instrentment set up, along with my two radios, M-16, bunches of grenades and my binoculars. I still felt nacked, so I strapt on a bayonet from my knee to my anckel, and left the snap undone.

As I sat and watched the horizon, I knew all my defences were for nought if a sapper slunk into my position. I practed with my knife until I was perficient with snaping it into position to defend myself. Also, I never used deodrent, so I could just show an armpit and I was in control!

On out watch, we sat and observed using binocolurs, theadalites, two radio networks, frags, pop and parachute flares, and our M-16. The T-2 Theadolite is an acurate survaying instruminate that measures azuminth/berrings and hight. The instrament was plumb and ballanced over the benchmark on the OP

A benchmark is a surveyed location with the benchmark as a perminate marker. We would locate an enemy flash off of an automatic weapon, morter, RPG, 122mm rocket, or other enemy activity. We would send the info into FDC, and they would coordanate it with other OP's to triangleate the location of the enemy.

I felt very uneasy to have my back unprotected for my watch, espicelly when there was a fire mission, and/or activity in our AO. Our attition was focused on locating and communicating azuminth to FDC and/or the 5th. SF's.

Randomly, we would walk the perimiter and check on the Yard guards, and other misc. things that I don't remember. I quess they were not important, or I wouldn't be writting this!

Nights when there was boocou activity or fog, we would be on double alirt... there would be two of us on duty.
