I did this photo side by side group way back when the Milsurp After Hours first started to show the differences were more than just the magazine. 2A1 to the bottom in all photos in this section.

Thanks for those Robert, I do think that the Ishapores are a victim of Enfield snobbery.

They made some less than perfect stuff but so did all the arsenals in their time, a product of circumstances.

I'd like a nice 1a for my collection, they are not the most esthetic of rifles but very interesting and testament to the longevity and robustness of the No1 design.

Well there goes my no buying policy out the window and I was doing so well.

2A's and 2A1's are about dried up from the usual sources. I managed to get mine for...$81 a few years ago.

Robert,

Nice lot of pics. Where was the No1 made?

There is something there that I don't ever remember seeing before: the indented section of the forend just below the bolt head on the No1. I have always regreted not buying a 7.62mm when they were plentiful and relatively cheap in Aust.

Eoin.

Both have an Ishaphore address.

The No. 1 was orginally made in 1904 it would seem. The RFI rebuild date is 1917. The 2A1 was made in 1968.
