While out and about Friday, I stopped in at my local pawn shop they had two more guns on the rack then they did the day before, but nothing to talk about.
Then my friend that runs the shop asked me if I had a rear sight for a M1 Carbine. I told him yes and he asked me what I wanted for it. I asked what he was going to put it on and he said a GI M1. He said that the sight had been removed to mount a scope. He then went to the back and got the carbine. I was happy to see that someone had mounted a SK no smithing mount on the gun.
I took a good look at it and asked what he wanted. Then I told him I would give him $300. He counter offered and I asked if that was the out the door price. He said that he would have to add the tax. It was still a great deal, under $400, so I took it.
Here are the pic's

The SN# puts it built Jan 1943 - Sept 1943.

The Barrel date is 5-43. The bore looks pertty good and should clean up very nice.

S HB stamp in the sling slot.

I have been wanting a M1 Carbine for some time now and I an very happy with this one.
As soon as I am feeling better I will clean the rust off the metal and do an Oil Cleaning on the stock to remove the dirt.
Oh! there are no import marks on it.
