No pics, haven't bought it yet I did however put $35 down on it so I'll have pics when I go pay the rest after the 20th.
No laminate stock, darkish shellac and wood (it looks dark) clean bore and no counter bore, weird serial and the Tula thing made me snag it,two Russian letters and what I take to be 777 so that pushed me over the edge.
I'll get plenty of pics up after I get it,so watch this space.

IS it an Ex-PEM or an Ex-PU?

I believe it's a PU,I didn't look too close as the only thing ringing bells was it's a Tula and the year isn't all that common,I was told the PU Tula has a "CH" on the receiver and I do recall it having that.
At any rate I think I may have snagged a nice Mosin to go with my '43 Izzy
ETA:
I need to wait until it's in hand but I do recall the sling slots have brass, not steel, slot protectors and if I recall right there screwed in,there's also all kinds of stampings in the stock itself,if I remember right one was a "3" in a triangle and another number in a diamond.
Looks like the gun went around the block a time or two.

I have had several 1942 Tulas, one even being an ex-PEM. They were very fine rifles & shot just as well as they looked.
Got rid of almost all of my round receiver Mosins to make room for the older octagonal receiver ones.
Show some close up pictures when you can.
I'll bet what you think is brass is just steel that looks brass due to the shellac coating over it.

I had thought this was a '42 but a bit of scraping found it's a '43-this is better as it's a companion to my '43 Izzy PU ex sniper
I'm going to toss three pics up as this gun has so many stampings it's not funny,I'll have to resize and make them nice so be patient while I work on taking and enhancing them (color balance, sharpness etc)
It's a non laminate and has the nicest shellac I've seen,a couple rough spots but I plan on adding more shellac over those to "seal" it.
Some of what's on the butt.
There's a mess more of them all over the gun so I'm going to work on some pics...take some time but Mosin nuts may have fun with it.
