A friend of mine is selling his fathers gun collection. He brought me this rife, not knowing the Who, what and how much.

The WHO: The only markings are: "Rep. Van Suid-Afrika
The WHAT: A single shot rifle, bolt action with a full shrouded reciever( built in one piece) Mauser style bolt w/2 locking lugs. Caliber marking is 7.62. Chamber cast showed it to be a 308 Winchester. Rear sight is marked in 3 lines, Alf. J. Parker
Birmingham
Model TZ3-55

I can find nothing about the maker. And the sight is not listed on the Parker website.

HELP!!

Can't help with the rifle but the sight could possibly be a TZ 3/53.
TZ were the Parker Hale Twin Zero sights - there are two zeros on the elevating scale plate, giving at the same time, zero on the vernier scale and zero on the range scale.
They were made, I think, for the P14 rifles. Probably worth a penny in its own right.

Your pics are a bit dark, but yes that resembles it. I talked to some shooters today, Highpower Match, and they said it may be a Palma rifle.
I hope to have some decent pics next week.

Probably a Musgrave, they made some Palma match rifles.
