1937 Turkish Mauser / reworked Gew 98

This one is a reworked WWI German Gew 98. It has a nice Walnut stock and no cracks.

The crest is very nice, but if you look close you can still see a little of the German crest that was not completly scrubed off.

It is non matching, like most Turks.

You just got to love those old German markings.

It also has aa Gew 98 barrel band.

Carving on the butt.

I reall like this rifle. It fits in my collection of 14 other Turks.

That's pretty neat. I've got a GEW98 that was owned by the Turks that they didn't mess with. They did put the cresent moon on the receiver but that was about the extent of it. All the German marks are still on it, although all the serial numbers don't match. Oh..... it shoots about minute of side of barn at 100 yards. Maybe that's why they didn't fool with "updating" it.

Looks like your rifle didn't go through the Turk upgreads in the late 30s. I like it.
You know, it it doesn't shoot worth a hoot, you could always give it to me. :D It would fit great in my Turk collection. ;)
