Beaumont?

I'm looking at a rifle that
looks a lot like a Beaumont, but has a "flattened" bolt that I've never seen on a Beaumont before? It is dated 1886.
Anyone familiar with this rifle?

I don't think that it could be anything other than a Beaumont, there appears to be a screw in the bolt handle in the usual place which would indicate that the mainspring is in there as usual (or was?).
Is that some form of safety on the cockinc piece?

Damned if I know--I'm still trying to decide if I want the thing.
Fooling around with the mainspring housing like that worries me.

It is a beaumont-vitali, but the bolt isn't a type that was ever issued in the dutch armed forces.
