Hi all,
I just wanted to introduce myself. I have been lurking for a bit and really enjoyed the postings so I thought I would register and say hello. I'm relatively new to the milsurp world, but it sure does get into your blood. I am an ex-history teacher now in the private sector and I enjoy learning about C&R guns almost as much as shooting them. My boys are also interested in this subject and we have had a lot of fun on the range and just talking older weapons, especially World War II-era weapons.
I have a couple of Mosins (a 1940 Tula 91/30 and an Izhevsk M44) and Yugo M48. I live in the Austin-area now and grew up in central Texas. I'll post some pictures as soon as I can figure out how to download them from my phone.
I sure do look forward to learning more.
Regards,
Tomm

Welcome to the site. I'd guess from your handle you might be a fan of John Steinbeck....or just have a handle that comes to mind that would suggest it.
One thing we do have here is a mixture of people from all over the world. We seem to be able to get along just fine though. Easier to do when you don't have political rants and confrontations and can stick to topics that are mostly just milsurp related or some harmless joke or other nonsense.
I look forward to seeing you posting. Glad you enjoyed reading posts that encouraged you to want to participate.

Well the John Steinbeck reference went right over my head.
Welcome anyway. Don't see many chalkies with an interest in firearms these days.

Welcome Tomm, just get yourself a Lee-Enfield (or 2 or 3

) and not one of those rough and ready No4s.

Darn, Karl. I didn't know you actually collected milsurps. I thought you just collected jokes.
Good looking collection of Swiss rifles you have there.

Welcome and this one is from Texas.
Where are you at and where do you shoot?
If you are near Fort Worth There are six matches a year for milsurps at a FMJ friendly & position shooting friendly range that has 9 points at 100 yards/meters and 4 points at 200 yards.
