MILITARY CALIBRES

A some of you may know, here in France all 'Military' calibre rifles are covered by a Cat 1 permit involving the Club, Prefecture and Gendarmes so many people just converted their military bolt action rifles to 'Hunting' calibres and continued to shoot them, 8X60s and .303 Sporting being 2 of them.

Joy of Joys.................It seems that in the near future this ruling will be removed for bolt action weapons and so we will be able to purchase Milsurp in the original calibres, saving about 200€ for the conversion costs! It will also remove the need for annual inspections etc.      Can't wait!

A little common sense at last. I have never understood the logic of having a military calibre ban. What difference does the calibre make anyway? It is not as if you are going to start your own army to overthrow the government with military bolt action rifles are you? If someone were going to start their own army I doubt they would take much notice of any law on military calibre rifles anyway.
Regards
Peter.

Great news, Duncan. We had the same in NSW for many years which gave rise to the situation where military rifles were converted to more powerful cartridges so as to be legal

Good news Duncan. Looks like a little common sense comes to the surface for a change.....in France, anyway.

You just gotta love a country where the people riot if they try to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62.
