My pet budgie died today. :(
.
.
.

It wasn't the broken leg which finished him off. I made a little splint for his injured limb out of a Swan Vesta.
.
.
.
.

Then he started shuffling about on the sandsheet at the bottom of his cage!

Good thing there is a Google bar on my computer. I'd guess the Budgie is some kind of canary.

Wooden stick, strike anywhere, kitchen, we call them by different names here. But they are still the ones with the red and white tip.

Budgie;;Aussie slang for Budgerigar, small ( about large sparrow size) Light Blue and Yellow parrakeet, very common in the wild in certain areas of Australia; been recognised as a house pet and cage bird (even though native) for over a century.

Also forms part of vernacular "Budgie Smuggler"-- Speedo brand swimming costume for men; "Golden Budgie" --Singer Kylie Minogue, due to her petite frame and tendency to wear tight Golden costumes on stage.
