Recoil shoulders etc., in Lee-Enfields

Here is a comparetivly rare solution to the problem of recoil shoulders in forends being damaged by body flexing.
The photo is from the Lithgow Museum and shows, among other things, the system whereby two steel rods transfered the energy of the flex directly to the wall of the butt socket and relieved the wood from compression forces.
