VZ24

I have probably posted these pics before, but I thought I would show them again. This is my VZ24 that I have had for a few years that was reworked in WW2 for the German Army. All the numbers match down to the screws. It has a laminated stock and shoots OK for its age.

Nice. Looks like they put it in a later war 98K stock. I got a VZ24 with a bent bolt handle and a solid stock. Have you got a photo of your handle from the top and side in a close up? The 98k bolt handle had more of sharper turn than my VZ does. Then again....I understand some VZ 24's were made with bent bolts as Cavalry carbines at one time. Wonder if yours started out as one of these or maybe what you have is a standard VZ made during war time and the bolt handle bent in the process to match the 98k?

I don't have a photo of the bolt but is standard 98K type. The rifle has the E(lion)34 stamp which indicates it was originally built in 1934. I think it was reworked to 98K standard spec in WW2.

Just t0 show what I mean. I took a few photos of my bent bolt VZ24 and a couple of my 98K's to show that the 98K bolt handle had more of a straight bend and the 24 more of a curved bend.

Do you shoot it much Peter? My Cinderella K98 tends to get left in the cabinet while my G98 gets the range time.

It doesn't get alot of use. Twenty odd rounds of milsurp 7.92mm is enough for me in one session shot prone. However, a good supply of boxer brass and pulled military bullets have come my way, so I will load up some milder loads. It does shoot well with some 1980s PPU ammo I have.

The bolt is bent like the K98 bolt in the pictures. Maybe it got a new bolt in the refurb? The bolt is stamped with the last four digits of the serial number on the top flat bit.
