Still, lets see how it performs in real combat roles - it's got a LOT to live up to if it wants be be a Harrier replacement :GBR: :GBR: :GBR: :GBR:

Fantastic plane, but I agree with Duncan.
Let's see the F-35 perform in combat and judge after that.

There's three versions being produced. This is type B. The A & C versions are not VTOs. The A goes to the Air Force and the C to the Navy.

It's a nice looking 'plane but can it VIFF? If it can, and tried it in combat,wouldn't that opening 'cap' rather telegraph any such move to an opponent?

My personal opinion is that they would have been better off sticking to vectored thrust.
