Haven't posted for a while...................................but

Thought this was worth sharing

Seems that every time I head for the range I take my Mosin/Nagant, SMLE, or maybe one of my black powder guns.

And every time I pull out one of my guns it seems to draw a crowd. That's especially true for any young folks that might be there that day. Nothing like sharing a bit of history and sparking a bit of interest in the firearms of the past. Occasionally I let someone else take a few shots and love to see their smiles grow.

I like to shoot at 100 yards just to see what I can do with a 70-100 year old workhorse and I'm always pleased. Last week I was shooting my Lee-enfield at 100 yards, while a guy down a few stalls was shooting his new "black gun" at 25 and then 50 yards. He just couldn't put his shots where he wanted them to go. Eventually he called it quits and went home. Maybe his sights were off, maybe it was a bad day for him, I don't know. Couldn't help but think maybe he'd do better with an ole' SMLE and a little patience.

When I shoot, I shoot to relax, to enjoy being outdoors and to talk with friends, old and new. My milsurps just lend themselves to a peaceful afternoon of R & R. After all, they've earned it!

Shoot Safe, Shoot often, Shoot Tens! :AUS: :FRA: :GBR: :CAN: :IRE: :NET: :SCO: :SWI: :USA:

You know there is a lot in what you say mate.
When i was at the range last Saturday the President was showing some potential members round and pointed at me and my pal and said "Those 2 are serious about black powder and older guns" at which the potential members cam over and spent a fair bit of time looking and asking questions.
Good for the club and good for us because if they join and buy older kit then local gun shop will stock more product that will interest us

Well said. I agree with your sentiment completely.

And just about every time I go to the range and fire some of my old guns somebody will want to talk about what they are and how they shoot. Nobody seems to be as much interested in the regular hunting rifle assortment of modern firearms that one sees. I think all of us have had this kind of experience on a regular basis.

I totally agree.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Met vriendelijke groet,
