Milsurp After Hours

A Westley-Richards ZAR carbine in 577-450, as bought by the South African Republic. Large Francotte-style action. Not too many of these were made, and this one is still in shooting condition. Shoots quite nicely too, if you can manage the sights...

Recoil is 'stout', but not too bad with 420gr bullets and 85 grs of Fg, but it does look quite impressive though. Overall length is about the same as a .310 cadet, but the hole in the muzzle is a bit bigger though, just like the cartridge...

It would be nice to see that being shot in the HBSA "1910" Meeting on the 12th June, will we see you there?

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to that shoot, work intervening unfortunately... However, I fully do intend to go to some other HBSA shoots, but I won't be able to make this one. As to whether I will bring this rifle, that's another story.


And yes, this one also has that 9-groove barrel. I do like those W-R ZAR's - have now 4 of them...

To be honest - I bought this one on Gunbroker, in the US - with the exchange rate, it was even cheaper than buying one in SA (provided I could find one). Not that I'm complaining, mind you...
