To the range today.............

What a great day at the range, low 70's and not a cloud in the sky.
The covered range has 18 shooting positions from 5 to 50 yards for small bore and handgun and 12 shooting positions for rifle/big bore at 100 and 200 yards. They furnish cement tables w/chairs, carpet pads for table top, carpeted wood blocks and sandbags, visable in some range photos.
After shooting my 1895 Nagant at 25 yards, I just moved the target back to 50 yards and shot my Mossburg 640K Chuckster .22 magnum.
Recently put a new scope on it so it took me awhile to zero it in, but finally got it close. It was shoot, click scope, shoot, click scope, etc.
I was sitting and using a sandbag, and it was only 50 yards, but I was happy.
Am posting 2 targets and some pics of the range, very nice and well kept, it belongs to Pima County.
The square target is 8 1/2" X 11" and the round is 8". The flyer in the 7 ring of the round target is because the guy next to fired off his elephant pistol when I pulled the trigger, it boomed next to me and I felt the concussion, don't know what it was, but it sure made me jump.
One of the photos explains why we don't have any shooting pits to stand in.

Nice range. And you don't even have to belong to some club to shoot there?

Good shooting too.

No, it is open to the public, costs $8 a day to shoot. It is owned by the county, government property so everyone welcome.
They make you read the rules and sign the book, don't even have to show ID.
Open 8 to 5, Thurs thru Sun every week, closed holidays. And it's only about 5 miles from my house.
No fully automatic firearm shooting, .50 cal. BMG or equivalent, incendiary or tracer ammunition are allowed.
There is another county range about 25 miles west of me, it's a bigger range, but too far to drive.

The only range I know about now in my area is 30 miles away and cost $10 and you may or may not have to stand in line to get a seat at a firing point.

A range worker told me that on a nice days, Sat and Sun are a little crowded and may have to wait for a table, but never on Thurs or Fri. As you can see in the pics there were empty tables.
Another advantage to being retired, don't have to fight weekend crowds.

I didn't show the first few targets for either the .22 or the pistol, they didn't look too good..

Rattlesnakes and scorpions would just love shooting pits.
