Milsurp After Hours

I got to try this .45acp version of the Peter Sarony, Armalon No.4 conversion yesterday, i like it and when my FAC comes back from renewal i will be making the purchase.

I shot a few rounds, hastily assembled with .455 Webley dies, loaded with 265g RN HB over 4.8g Viht N320. It shot well although i only had access to a 15m range.

I will write a better report when i have the rifle and the kit to do some development with various powders/boolits/ ranges etc.

If anyone is shooting one of these in .45 any help and advice would be welcome.

Looks like it would be fun to shoot. What kind of mags does it use?
What I am interested in is one of the .45-70 #4 conversions. Should make one hell of a pig rifle.
A brass butt plate really adds a bit of class to any rifle.

I got to play with the prototype, in 9mm Para, a few years back. It's fun to use, but the original had a minor flaw in the placement of the mag release, which I think pointed forward and normally meant you'd take a firm left-hand grip and drop the mag! However, the production run have a good rep and are still well sought after, so I think you're lucky to have found on.

Brass Rat, I've fired one of those conversions, which had been outfitted with plastic furniture and handloaded with cartridges of ascending power. At service load I imagine it will stop pig easily, but God it jumps!

It is a good find KCLRPC but they fetch high prices and i had to deliberate over getting this one now that i'm retired. What sort of ranges did you find the 9millie version effective to accuracy wise?

I'm with Duncan on that...

The 9mm version seemed to be good out to 50 yards. I'm afraid I can't give a fair assessment, as we were doing a PP1 competition rather than a deliberate practice. Armalon generally have a reputation for accuracy, so it should be good. I look forward to the full report.

Well i finally got my "ticket" back so off to pick up the rifle tomorrow, i just need a range day now.

I have all the loading gear collected together now so it will be all systems go at the loading bench this weekend!
