Chinese Type 53 carbine
I've noticed lately that there came a crop of them lately. Unusual to see the Chinese version of the M44. AIM had some for a while, in the last month. and SOG still advertises them. The going price is right at $150 plus shipping cost....which is about $30 cheaper than the Russian standard wood stock M44 and $40 cheaper than the laminated M44 stock as they are both being offered for at the moment.
Seems to me the Type 53 wasn't considered C&R at one time , unlike its Russian version, and, due to embargoes, the Type 53 wasn't very common either after an initial early flood of them.
My Russian Izhevsk M44, acquired from Century back in 2000 cost all of $64.87, delivered. I wish I had bought more of them instead of Kodak stock.

Re: Chinese Type 53 carbine
my 1954.9 T-53 cost $119 from AIM august 15,2012 .. really good bore and about 85-90 % blue. stock is not too bad,but not as nice as my 1944 M 44 Izhevsk. no sling,no cleaning rod,no cleaning kit. it has the nicest trigger feel and bolt of my 4-MN 91-30 and the M44 as they came, but using tips and info from josh smith they all are nice now..

Nice looking. I have found the Chinese rifles to be very good. My Norinco SKS is a fine rifle top to bottom. Regards, Rick.

Re: Chinese Type 53 carbine
I've got a couple in the safe that I bought 15+ yrs ago when they first came in. I bought several and kept the 2 best.
I have clg rods and clg kits with mine and later added slings.
I was selling them to reenactors because the ruskie stuff was hard to come by.
Have never shot either one and probably will not since I have shot the 44s and don't like the recoil and muzzle blast.
Some day when I'm in the back of the safe I'll probably pull one out and sell it as I have no need for 2, didn't at the time, but kept 2 anyway.
