The site has taken a lot of turns. Started out as an Easyboard site. When Easyboard self destructed, much of what we had for posts went with it. But then I got an education and with the help of my son, the computer programmer and engineer, things changed. In 2005 the site went on its own and wasn't "owned" by some provider any longer. Independence was good, and is good, but we have had our share of problems with compromised server space over the years too. Now we are in a server space that is not shared with hundreds of other sites and things are more secure than they have ever been before.

I got to looking at the registered user list. Brass Rat is the longest faithful member, followed at a short distance by Joseyclosey, Niner Delta, Tom May and Dutch Mosin. There are also lots of handles, with generally few posts, that haven't shown up in years too. All of our other moderators have been active with the site for several years as well. I thank all of those who have been posting here over the years and still remain. The site continues largely because of the participation of a dozen or so regular posters.....which is the way of probably most message board sites that have been around a long while.

When looking at the member list, I couldn't help but notice a number of them that used to contribute greatly over years that we don't hear from any longer. Hope they are still alive and well and have found other interests...or sites more to their liking. One I particularly wonder about is A J Carey, who was also Sgt. Jethro. He had an amazing gun collection that he used to show us photos of and do a show and tell about regularly . He retired to Kentucky or one of those Eastern Mountain states. Guess he is too far back in the woods to use his computer any longer. I've never seen him at any of the other gun sites since he retired.

A buddy of mine retired to the town of Sugar Tree Tennessee and all they have there is dial up. He doesn't even bother trying to do more than just simple emails.
