Need M48 handguard

Hey, Mauser guys!
I got careless last night while disassembling my M48A, and broke the handguard. The stock and handguard are made of teakwood.
I'm kind of upset at myself about this, but that's another matter. Anyhow, I have searched Numrich, AIM, Mitchell's Mausers. Century, and a few others without luck.
Can anybody steer me in the direction of a good handguard for my M48A (same handguard as M48) or failing that, some insight as to what other handguards from other Mausers would also fit?
Thanks!

Try Springfield Sporters, you can find they have some listings online. They don't show a M48 stock among a number of Mauser stocks but if you contact them there is a chance they do have one. Perhaps a 24/47 top handgrip would work on it too. In any case, if Springfield Sporters has one it probably won't set you back more than $10 or so.
Welcome to the forums. Maybe somebody else will see this and know better how to advise you.

I have read on other forums that the 24/47 handguard will work, although it is slightly different.
Does anybody know about that?

I took a Yugo M48, a Yugo 24/47, and a Czech Vz24 out to see what differences I could find in the top stock hand grip. They all looked to be the same. However, when I took the calipers out the stock on the M48 measures about 1.78 at the max width to the 24/47's aproximately 1.61 and the VZ24 was about the same as the 24/47.

Wow, I just gave one away that was missing the clip about 2 months ago.

I can reuse my clip and screws, so no clip would be fine with me.
Is your friend using the one you gave him? Just wondering.
In the meantime, I have glued mine back together and filled in the missing bits with wood filler. It looks pretty rough, but might work until I can find a replacement.

Well I ended up buying two handguards, one from a guy on another forum and one on Gunbroker.
The one from GB was a good one and is on my M48 now. Turns out that the one from the other forum is for a 24/47, not for an M48 (based on measurements I got from Niner's post). But it is still a nice handguard, just for a different rifle.

Glad you got it fixed. Nice having things back to complete, I know.
