Milsurp After Hours

The great C&R feeding frenzy of a decade or more ago has long ended. No more three or four for $100 Turk Mausers or good condition, no cracked stocks, Mosin Nagants for $50 each...delivered. No $150 No. 5 Jungle Carbines, $90 Albanian SKS rifles, no 98K with the Nazi marks scrubbed, by way of Yugoslavia, for $99...shipped to your door.

The last C&R I bought was a M1 Carbine and paid about $700 for it. And that was a year ago.

Now that the bloom is off the rose and the prices are way up on what is available, I'd imagine the collections are not growing nearly as quickly as they used to grow.

That brings this question to mind....

(C&R rifle being any rifle 50 years old or older for the sake of this exercise.)

Now you come to mention it I have not bought any thing for a long time. I think my last purchase was a P14. A very nice rifle that I picked up for a very good price and it shoots great.

Oooops, i voted this year although strictly speaking my No.4 Armalon conversion in 45acp is not a C&R.

I guess my last milsurp was the Steyr M95 that i bought 2 or 3 years back.

I bought a Mosin Nagant P-27 from one of the members of the Dutch Firearms Collectors Association.
Fantastic looking rifle.
Mmmmm.........I just found out that I have to take some pictures of it and post them in here.
Will do that ASAP.

It's not a rifle but it was once a Lee-Enfield No 1 Mk III* but is now a commercial conversion to a .410 shotgun, I bought it on the 4th of April.

My last C&R purchase was about two years ago, a 1943 Mosin Nagant 91/30 arsenal refinished, with accessories, for $114 plus tax.
However, in the last year I have bought an old (but in good condition) Mossberg single shot 22 for $120, and a very worn out/parts missing Mossberg 22 repeater (paid all of $20).
And, since I am that point in life that I am firearm rich but cash poor, I have traded a Stevens pump 12 ga (I had two identical Model 67E) for a Mossberg 183KE bolt action 410, and an old Ithaca M-66 Super Single for a Mossberg 85 bolt action 20 ga.
I like old guns!
Especially old 22's and shotguns.

I'm a big fan of old .22's myself rpd, i'm a real sucker for them.

Me too on the 22's. I've got four rifles and three pistols. The first rifle I ever shot was a 22. That was a long time ago.

I have been in selling mode since before Christmas.

The last one I bought was a Walther P1 back in January of last year.
