Which of the following would you most likely participate in?

The actual rules are subject to discussion with any choice that gets the most votes. I added "standing" to all choices but it doesn't have to be that way in the final rules. Number of rounds fired, target, how fired, etc., to be discussed. This is just to get a direction to go in for constructing a contest from the suggestions received.

Far be it from me to rain on anyone's parade, but what is the purpose of this competition....to find out what guns shoot best or find out who is the best shooter? I'm nearly 67 years old and frankly don't stand a chance of competing in off hand shooting with a young man....zero zippo nada. If that's what you want I cannot compete.....but I'll try. If on the other hand the objective is to find out what rifles shoot the best, then supported shooting must be allowed. One way or the other I don't care but I lean toward finding out the guns that shoot best. I also consider 25 yard rimfire competition as worthless. 50 yards is the standard for .22 rimfire competition. You won't sneak to within 25 yards of a squirrel......so what's the point? Regards, Rick.

I voted for no. 2, it's all for a bit of fun and interest as far as I'm concerned and therefore I would like to see as many folk as possible give it a go.

We could change up the rules to allow bench, seated for those of us of us with a bad case of the getting old. Most pistol ranges I'm familiar which allow .22 rifle have benches anyway.

And Rick...this isn't serious. We don't expect to prove anything with any rifles any more than going fishing proves anything about any particular rod and reel....or any fisherman. It's just something to do for the fun of it.

Ok...looks like we have 75% of the vote selecting the .22 rifle with iron or scope sight at 25 yards...or meters. I'll post another string to decide on the rules.
