I have the chance to bag a couple of the Portugese Viguero Mausers both in 6.5 x 58 and was wondering if there is any ammo anywhere or even any brass? Can it be made by Fireforming other mauser brass?

According to John J Donnellys, Cartridge Conversions manual, they can be reasonably easily converted from .270 brass.

I'm not sure how accurate his info is though.

Here is some information from The Handloaders Manual of Cartridge Conversions....by John J. Donnelly and Bryce Towsley. Probably the same book Joe mentioned.

Well I bit the bullet so to speak, sealed bid auction, it cost me £120 collected and I also bagged two boxes of 6.5 ammo, one was MS but the other is correct so I am happy.
Now that Krank has the 8mm models cheap I may grab a couple and convert one to a sporter (definetly not the 6.5 one) and I will need a long eye relief scope as the split bridge cant be joined!

Well I managed to snap up another couple of these rifles, this time in 8mm Mauser. One for sportering and one for classic comps if I can find the time. Here they are below the Sportered Argentinian and above the 6.5 x 58 Original Portugese Mauser;

There is quite a difference in barrel lengths between the early and converted mausers

Its an unusual looking bolt;
