December 7, 1941. The last good war began for the US on this date. The good guys and the bad guys were clearly defined then...for as long as the war lasted. WWII lived up to its billing of "world war" with massive death tolls, great destruction, complete with plenty of heroes.....some surviving the war and plenty enough who didn't. And, now, of the dwindling number that served during that war that remain alive, every last one is of the "greatest generation", including the thousands of men and women who served in uniform but never left the states are highly venerated. Well....all of the state side military could have been sent over seas I guess. Those atom bombs on Japan saved a lot of lives that likely were willing to offer them up for victory. "They also serve that only stand and wait", would apply.
Wonder what the veterans from Japan think of December 7? The dumbest mistake their country ever made?
