Well, I went to the local candy store today looking for a 9 mm pistol and I found a 1909 Argentine in really nice condition, with matching number on the bolt, action, stock, and trigger guard. The wood has quite a few dents, but nothing bad. The barrel looks to be about 23.5 from muzzle to the front of the ring. I hope to shoot it soon. Since I keep seeing that these had a 29 inch barrel, is mine a modification or a different variant?

Try a search on Google for images of a "Argentine 1909 mauser cavalry carbine" as that is maybe what you have. Pictures would be welcome................. :D

Could it just be a worn muzzle that has been cut back?

Pics would be good,

Joe

I did the google search and I think that it is the cavalry carbine. I don't think the muzzle has been cut back. If so, it was done at the arsenal. I don't have picture capabilities at this time, but what I have is just like the one at the site below. My stock is not as good, but the metal on mine is better. Mine is also DWM made.
