Question, what's the deal with British ranges all seeming to have holes to shoot out of. A lot of pix seem to show British shooters standing in pits, trenches, or holes in the ground to shoot. Is this a requirement? Cultural thing? Trench warfare practice?
Us Yanks would like to know!
We tend to either sit at a bench, lie on the ground, sit, squat, or stand offhand. But seldom if ever do our ranges have holes or trenches (unless they're the pits behind the targets where the scorers pull targets and mark scores....)

Most of the ranges we shoot on are military ranges PB,

Actually, it's not unpleasant at all to fire.
Recoil is about the same as the STG (adjustible gas systems are great!), and muzzle flash is not too bad. Blast doesn't bother the shooter, but those shooting nearby ask "What kind of cannon is that?" :P
It has the single best trigger on any of my firearms. It is amazing.
