Perhaps that is some kind of modified Imperial German bayonet lug. The only thing that it looks like may be a Gewher 1888 bayonet attachment ring.?

I have grown up shooting the Nagant rifles and pistols and they are simple and robust. I do however in my limited amount of expirence with other nations rifles have found the Enfield to be delightful to shoot. perhaps it is the rimmed cartridge but the rifles have all been flawless in operation and ...

Herr Wrobel,

It appears that the bayonet attachment unit is from a French rifle like a Berthier. Where would such a thing come from on a Russian rifle? Where French rifles used in Russian army units?
