I Blame The Webley!

Post by krinko » Fri Jul 21, 2006 8:59 pm

Shot the Swiss Pistol Match today, the 25 meter, 180 point Brewery Match...and got 172 of those points.

With a 1916 Webley MkVI.

That's a 1916 Webley MkVI.

A 90 year old revolver.

Two points better than what I got with the very nice and Ultramodern CZ 97B.

I am so proud of the Old Girl, I can't stop grinning. She beat the tar out of SIGs, Kimbers and Swiss Lugers polished-up like a Poofter's manicure.

Sorry to rail on a handgun theme, I do not mean to salt the wounds of the Great Britons, or even the Merely Average Britons...but very few people in my immediate area can appreciate the beauty of the phenomenon and it ought to be appreciated.

Beauty's the one in the center.

it should be banished to the far ends of the earth for having the audacity to perform such a feat. (Port Macquarie Australia springs to mind as a good banishing point.)

Next thing you know you'll be using 1908 Lee Enfields to beat modern Remingtons and Sakos.

BTW well done, it is indeed a moment to savour.
The power of accurate observation is frequently called cynicism by those who don't have it.

Good shooting, never mind Port Macquarrie send it to Glen Innes where the weather will be more to its liking.

She beat the tar out of SIGs, Kimbers and Swiss Lugers
Does that mean you won the match? How big a match was it? What did you win?

The match has a minimum score for medals---beat it and you get a gong.

There is also a gold medal for highest score in the match----at best I'm second. Also, the Swiss system has an age handicap---I could get bumped down the list by some older, blinder guy with a lower numeric total...we'll find out in February when the medals come from Switzerland.

There were about forty competitors---and we were shooting to get one of these---
